COAL CITY – The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley tennis team lost 5-2 to Coal City on Thursday.

Sophie Hafer defeated Coal City’s Alana Phillips 6-1, 6-2, and Rose Williams won 6-4, 6-2 over Sarah Moore.

In junior varsity play, the Falcons won 6-1.

Talley Rouley won 8-3, Rachel Harmet won 8-1 and Alayna Miller won 8-6. In doubles play, Emma Kurtenback/Karson Davis won 8-1, Riley Cushman/Tristan Copher won 8-3 and Mady Price/Lauren Duquette won 8-0.

"(We’re) till working on baseline game and approach shots and focusing on learning the strategies in doubles," Petersen said.
