PARIS — The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley tennis team placed third in Saturday’s Paris Invite.
Rose Williams and Sophie Hafer were the No. 1 doubles champions defeating Paris, Carmi and Vandalia to receive the medals.
In the No. 3 singles, Rachel Harmet won two matches against Paris and Vandalia.
Kelsi Reynolds and Talley Rouley, GCMS’s No. 1 and No. 2 singles palyers, and the team’s No. 2 doubles duo Susan Harmet/Abby Harper also claimed victories in the match against Vandalia.
"The best part of the day was when parents and coaches from other teams kept complimenting us on our fair play and sportsmanship," GCMS head coach Cindy Petersen said. "The head coach from Paris thanked me as a visiting coach for being so nice. He said my coaching staff and I were the best team he had coached against in a while. Kudos to coach (Cortney) Davis and coach (Shannon) Greer as well."
