PAXTON -- Alec St. Julien, a senior at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School, signed his letter of intent on Wednesday to run for Millikin University's men's cross country and track and field teams.
"It's exciting," St. Julien said. "I'm really excited about going on to the next level. It makes me happy."
At PBL, St. Julien helped the boys' cross country program reach the IHSA Class 1A state meet in 2017 and 2018.
"I'm going to miss PBL and all the guys here, for sure," St. Julien said. "I feel like it's not going to be the same in college because I've grown up with a lot of these senior guys. Our bond together is so tight. It's like a brotherhood. It's going to be weird going to college and trying to make a bond with that team and get that brotherhood."
St. Julien also looked at Danville Area Community College, Lincoln College and Greenville University, among other colleges.
"I was looking at a few other schools, but Millikin stood out to me the best," St. Julien said.
One big thing that stood out was the fact that Millikin had two of the majors St. Julien is considering -- cyber security and computer science.
"They had both of those (majors)," St. Julien said.
