DWIGHT -- The Paxton-Buckley-Loda baseball team split a doubleheader with Dwight on Saturday.

In game one, Tommy Quinn and Hunter Anderson combined to pitch a five-hit shutout as PBL won 8-0.

Quinn struck out 10 batters and walked two as he allowed no runs on four hits through six innings while Anderson allowed no runs on one hit and one walk through one inning.

At the plate, Ben Jarboe drove in two runs as he hit 2-for-3 while Mason Ecker and Quinn each went 2-for-3 as well and Drake Schrodt hit 2-for-4.

In the first inning, Ecker singled to center field before scoring on a wild pitch to give PBL a 1-0 lead.

The Panthers (8-3, 3-1 Sangamon Valley Conference) scored two more runs in the second and third innings each before tallying one run and two runs in the fourth and sixth, respectively.

Quinn reached base on an error to start off the second inning before scoring on another error with one out. After Carson Dudley drew a walk, he scored on yet another Dwight error.

Schrodt led off the third inning with an infield single before scoring on a base hit to center field hit by Jarboe. With one out, Quinn singled to left field to send Jarboe across home plate.

Ecker singled with two outs in the fourth inning before Schrodt sent him home with a line-drive base hit to center field.

Gavin Coplea led off the sixth inning with a walk and Keyn Humes singled to send Coplea across home plate. After Ecker drew a walk, Humes scored on a sacrifice fly hit to center field by Jarboe.

In game two, PBL lost 9-7 after Dwight's Colton Holm and Cade Enerson each hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning.

On the mound, Keyn Humes picked up the loss as he allowed four earned runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts through 1 1/3 innings.

Carson Dudley struck out two batters and walked three while allowing five runs -- two earned -- on three hits through 1 1/3 innings and Austin Gooden allowed no runs on one hit and five walks with three strikeouts through 3 2/3 innings.

The Panthers lost despite out-hitting Dwight 9-7 as Gavin Coplea and Trey VanWinkle hit 2-for-3 and Ben Jarboe went 2-for-2. VanWinkle doubled and drove in two runs while Jarboe and Coplea each had an RBI.
