COLFAX -- Madi Eberle of the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley softball team pitched a perfect game in a 9-0 victory Thursday over Ridgeview/Lexington.

Eberle struck out 15 batters through all seven innings. She also hit 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs at the plate.

The Falcons (11-6, 6-2 Heart of Illinois Conference) scored five runs in the third inning.

Summer Roesch hit a leadoff single to left field and Hannah Hathaway reached base on an error before Ashley Hyatt scored on a bunt single by Emily Clinton. Eberle then tripled to left field to send Hathaway and Clinton across home plate.

Lindsey Heinz singled to send Eberle home before Dani Eckerty doubled to right field to send Heinz across home plate.

In the fourth inning, Roesch walked and Hathaway and Clinton each reached base on an error before Eberle singled to left field to send Hyatt and Hathaway home.

In the seventh inning, GCMS scored two more runs, including one on an RBI single to left field by Makenzi Bielfeldt.
