ARMSTRONG -- Madi Eberle and Maci Bielfeldt of the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley softball team combined to pitch a no-hitter in a 13-1 victory Tuesday over Armstrong-Potomac.

Eberle allowed one unearned run on no walks with nine strikeouts through three innings while Bielfeldt allowed no runs on one walk with one strikeout through two innings.

Bielfeldt also homered while hitting 2-for-3 at the plate while Eberle hit 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, an RBI and two runs scored, Lauren Leonard went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored and Emily Clinton hit 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

After Clinton got on base with a bunt single to lead off the first inning, she scored on an Eberle triple to left field. Eberle crossed home plate as Lindsey Heinz reached base on an error.

After Leonard walked and Bielfeldt was hit by a pitch, Dani Eckerty reached base on an error that resulted in Heinz and Leonard crossing home plate.

Following an Ashley Hyatt base-on-balls, Bielfeldt scored on a wild pitch to extend GCMS's lead to 5-0.

In the third inning, Bielfeldt and Hyatt each drew a walk before scoring on a Clinton base hit to center field to extend GCMS's advantage to 7-1.

The Falcons (5-4) scored three more runs in the fourth and fifth innings each.

Heinz reached base on an error to lead off the fourth inning before Leonard singled to center field to send Heinz home. After a double by Bielfeldt and a hit-by-pitch drawn by Eckerty loaded the bases, Sadie Christensen walked to send Leonard across home plate.

In the next at-bat, Bielfeldt scored on a Hannah Hathaway fielder's choice ground ball.

The Falcons scored all three of their fifth-inning runs via a home run hit by Bielfeldt to left field after Eberle reached base on an error and Leonard hit an infield single.
