MINONK -- The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley softball team lost 7-6 Friday to Fieldcrest.

Madi Eberle hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to cut GCMS's deficit to 7-6 with nobody out, but three consecutive strikeouts in the next three at-bats ended the game. Eberle would finish the game hitting 2-for-3 while Emily Clinton hit 2-for-4.

On the mound, Eberle allowed seven runs -- six earned, which includes back-to-back home runs by Fieldcrest in the bottom of the sixth inning that erased a 4-3 Falcons lead -- on 10 hits and five walks with nine strikeouts through 5 1/3 innings pitched. Lauren Leonard allowed no runs on no hits and no walks with one strikeout through two-thirds of an inning.

Another two-run homer by Maci Bielfeldt in the top of the third inning extended GCMS's lead to 4-0.
