RANTOUL — William L. McCormick, 89, of Rantoul, brother of a Paxton resident, died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019, at the Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana, with visitation starting at 9:30. The Rev. Brent Roberson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Mayview.
Mr. McCormick was born in Champaign County on March 16, 1929, the son of Lewis Harold and Lucy Alice (Burley) McCormick. He married Gladys Marie Roberts on Jan. 7, 1969, in Urbana. She died Aug. 19, 2018.
Surviving are a daughter, Deanna Williams (George) of Champaign; son, Richard McCormick (Christine) of Urbana; five siblings, Beverly Brazelton of Monticello, Betty Trowbridge (Robert) of Sidney, Joe McCormick of Paxton, Wayne McCormick (Darlene) of Potomac and Linda McCormick of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Don McCormick; and two sisters, Shirley Shumate and Gloria McCormick.
Mr. McCormick was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, a member of the United Brotherhood of Teamsters and a truck driver for Advance Transportation for 33 years. He attended Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign. He enjoyed motorcycles and rode a Harley. After retirement, he worked for the Champaign Park District helping to pick up litter to keep the parks clean.
