URBANA — Shirley Jean Arledge, 85, of Urbana, formerly of Olney, mother of a Paxton resident, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at Accolade Healthcare in Paxton.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Crest Haven Memorial Park, Claremont.
Mrs. Arledge was born Aug. 20, 1933, in St. Louis, to Leonard and Goldie (Penn) Seal. She married Jay Wilbur Arledge on May 28, 1954, in St. Louis.
Surviving are her husband, Jay Arledge of Urbana; two daughters, Pam (Tom) Kirkman of Urbana and Kimberly (Kurt) Smith of Paxton; her grandchildren, Ben (Michelle) Alexander of Decatur, Kyle (Kristin) Smith of Paxton and Kallie (Jordan) Johnson of Champaign; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Natalie Alexander and Kaitlyn and Kaci Smith; a sister-in-law, Martha Arledge; a brother-in-law, Jim Comfort; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Goldie Seal; two sisters, Carolyn Strayhorn and Marion Comfort; her in-laws Wilbur and Irene Arledge; and a sister-in-law, Joy Callies.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Carle Hospice Care.
