NEWMAN — Frances Geraldine "Gerry" Hoch, 88, of rural Allerton, mother of a Buckley resident, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the Newman Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Newman.
A funeral service and celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, at Joines Funeral Home, 401 W. Gillogly St., Newman, with the Rev. Marc Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, at the funeral home. Cremation rites were accorded, and burial will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Hoch was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Sidney, the daughter of Hugo and Pearl Logan DeWitt. She married Elmer Hoch Jr. on May 30, 1953. He died in 2001. She later married Marion Young of rural Allerton in 2011. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Brenda Hoch of Savoy, Susan (Dale) Luhrsen of Buckley, Roger (Lena) Hoch of Mahomet and Sandra (Brink) Grismer of Sarasota, Fla.; her stepchildren, Suzanne (Terry) Robinson of Pillsboro, N.C., Mary Jane (Jeff) Monahan of Bloomington and David (Debby) Young of Newman; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lois Anderson of Batavia and Ruth Ann Plane of Seneca.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Mrs. Hoch grew up and attended school in the Broadland area. She worked at Bishop’s Buffet in Marketplace Mall in Champaign for 15 years. She loved to knit and crochet and especially loved spending time with her family.
