PAXTON — Elsie Marie Coplea, 94, of Urbana, formerly of Paxton, died at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at the Illini Heritage Rehab and Health Care Center in Champaign.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton, with the Rev. Debra Domeier officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery in Paxton.
Mrs. Coplea was born July 31, 1924, in Melvin, the daughter of Clous William and Maude Irene Roy. She married Leonard H. Coplea. He died March 20, 1980.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy Foster of Urbana; one grandson, Tony (Rhonda) Foster of Urbana; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence Custer of Joliet and Jean Petersen of Gilman.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers — Roy, Kenneth and Don Johansen.
Mrs. Coplea was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Paxton and was a former church council member. She was a babysitter for local families for many years and had worked in housekeeping at the Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton from 1981 to 1992. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or an organization of the donor’s choice.
