CRESCENT CITY — Donald M. Munsterman, 98, of Crescent City, father of an Onarga resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Stoerger officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Woodworth. Graveside military rites will be provided by Watseka American Legion Post No. 23 and Iroquois County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7450. Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
Mr. Munsterman was born Feb. 16, 1921, in rural Onarga-Crescent Township, the son of Henry and Clara (Brutlag) Munsterman. He married Lorna E. Seggebruch on Oct. 6, 1946, at Ash Grove and she died Sept. 30, 1989. He later married Wanda (Sorenson) Pfingsten on Feb. 1, 1992, in Woodworth, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ardell (Linda) Munsterman of Onarga and Roland (Deb) Munsterman of Milford; one daughter, Audrey (Steve) Ball of Heyworth; one sister, Verla Reutter of Bourbonnais; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five step-daughters; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son, Glenn.
Mr. Munsterman served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a corporal in the military police. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth and a lifelong farmer in the Crescent City area.
