HOOPESTON — Betty J. Chandler, 93, of Hoopeston and formerly of Cissna Park, mother of a Loda resident, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the Autumn Fields Adult Community in Hoopeston.
Funeral services will be at noon Monday, April 22, at the Cissna Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Molly Spence-Hawk officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, April 22, at the church. Burial will follow at the Cissna Park Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park.
Mrs. Chandler was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Newman, the daughter of Russell and Josephine Wagner Hinds. She married Spencer Chandler in Tuscola on Feb. 14, 1947, and he died Aug. 21, 1989.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Piekarski of Pleasanton, Calif.; two sons, Spencer Stephen (Jackie) Chandler of Loda and Gary (DeDee) Chandler of Petersburg; a half-brother, Roger Hinds of Texas; two half-sisters, Marlene Bosh and Carlene Kincade; six grandchildren, Stacie (David) Bruens, Jeremy (Staci) Chandler, Susan (Mark) Jorgensen, David (Andrea) Piekarski, Elizabeth (Paul) Davis and Brian (Morgan) Chandler; and seven great-grandchildren, Bryce Bruens, Brayden Bruens, Spencer Chandler, Rosella Chandler, Joanna Davis, Genevieve Jorgensen and Jackson Piekarski.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one son-in-law, John Piekarski.
Mrs. Chandler was a member of the Cissna Park United Methodist Church, enjoyed square dancing and worked at the Cissna Park Sale Barn for 29 years. She spent the last five years enjoying her time at Autumn Fields Adult Community in Hoopeston.
