PAXTON — Audrey Naomi Smith, 85, of Paxton, died at 10:47 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019, at the Accolade Healthcare of Paxton Senior Living.
A private burial will be held in Glen Cemetery in Paxton. Baier Family Funeral Services in Paxton is handling arrangements.
Audrey was born April 5, 1933, in Paxton, the daughter of Fred and Oral Bear Smith. In her youth, she married Alan Turner; their marriage resulted in one daughter, Melissa Turner Rogers.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Jan Rogers of Hilton Head, S.C.; four grandsons, Travis (Bailey) Rogers, Brent Rogers, Blake Rogers and Christopher Rogers; and one great-grandson, Luke Thomas Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Audrey graduated from Paxton High School in 1951 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois. She lived in Urbana for a number of years before returning to Paxton. Audrey enjoyed gardening and reading and was an excellent knitter and seamstress.
