PAXTON — Paxton police officers will be checking properties in town for ordinance violations over the next few weeks, including for tall grass and weeds, the accumulation of junk or debris, and abandoned, inoperable or unregistered vehicles.

Police Chief Coy Cornett said he wants to give residents an opportunity to make sure their properties are cleaned up before any tickets are issued.

Verbal warnings will be given to violators prior to May 1. If properties are still not cleaned up as of May 20, written warnings will be issued. And if still not cleaned up by June 10, notices to appear in court will be issued on that date, Cornett said.
